What is a Shelby Durango?
The Shelby Durango is a high-performance version of the Dodge Durango developed in collaboration with Carroll Shelby and introduced in 1999. The Durango Shelby SP 360 has a supercharged 5.9-liter V8 engine that produces 360 horsepower and 412 lb-ft of torque, and sends power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission. It also has unique styling, upgraded suspension, and aggressive bumpers.
The Shelby Durango is considered one of the most powerful SUVs of its time, and can go from 0 to 60 in the high 6C range. It has all-wheel drive, and some say it’s way head of its time in the world of high performance crossovers.
Shelby built roughly 300 Durangos for 1999 and 2000, and nicknamed them “SP 360” in reference to the engine’s horsepower. The Durango has aggressive bumpers, unique wheels, Shelby badging, and plastic carbon fiber trim.
